About Noah's Ark:
Noah’s Ark was founded 20 years ago, is a member of IFAT, and has been doing really great work to promote fair trade and improve the lives of their artisans and community through their Welfare Society in Moradabad, India. Noah's Ark is currently funraising to build a full-fledged school in their community.
About the Fair Trade School:
Our partner organization, Noah's Ark is currently funraising to run a free full-fledged school in Moradabad city for the children of artisans and agriculture field workers, who do not have means to go to school. Noah’s Ark has already invested about US$ 25000.00 in this project by acquiring land and constructing its boundary wall. The completion of this project would be a landmark for the children's education. Noah's Ark needs about $30,000 more to complete the project.
How you can help:
The property for the school has already been purchased, but Noah's Ark lacks funding to finish the school, and has been trying to secure funding for the last few years. The people of Moradabad need to raise $30,000 to complete construction of the school. There is wide international recognition that investing in women’s education is one of the best ways to help developing economies. There is a clear correlation between improvements in women’s education and advances in the overall economy and society. For example, a one year increase in the schooling attainment of all adult females in a country is associated with:
- an increase in GDP per capita of around $700 USD
- an increase in the share of industry and services in economic activities of 0.3% and 0.8%, respectively, and a reduction in the share of agriculture of 1%
- an increase in female formal sector labor force participation rates of 0.7%
- a reduction in children's labor force participation of 1.4 percentage points
- an increase in contraceptive use of 4.5 percentage points
- a 4.3% increase in the proportion of females continuing on to secondary school
- an increase in female and male life expectancy of 1 year
- an increase in the share of the population with access to safe water and sanitation of 3.7 and 5.4 percentage points, respectively
