Our Work
Founded in 2005, World of Good Development Organization aims to increase the economic livelihoods of women living in poverty in developing countries.
We accomplish this through building collaborative partnerships and technological tools that educate women homeworkers and businesses sourcing from homeworkers.
We have four projects:
Our first project, the Fair Wage Guide was created in 2006 in partnership with the fair trade community. The Fair Wage Guide brings a new level of transparency to the fair trade sector by creating a common methodology for the calculation of fair wages. The project has positively impacted more than 25,000 artisans, most of whom are women, in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Read more about our impact.
The Fair Wage Guide is a free, online tool that buyers and artisans can access from anywhere in the world. To date, we have recruited more than 600 companies and NGOs in 61 countries to use the tool. We have also conducted field studies and intensive workshops in select countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Read more about where we work.
We are now in the process of expanding our work to address the issues of a broader range of homeworkers in additional sectors, including agriculture, apparel and electronics. Taking the lessons we have learned working with the fair trade community, we hope to build strategic partnerships and new technology tools to improve the lives of low-income homeworkers in global supply chains.
